What time does your 2 year old go to bed?

DS has always gone to bed at 7:30, but the last week he has been taking 4EVER to fall asleep (but still waking at 7 AM - boo). Lots of singing and talking in his crib, for up to an hour.  Just wondering if I may need to push him back a bit...what does your 2 year old do?

  • 6:45-7 every night. Some nights it takes him a little longer to fall asleep but bed time is almways the same at our house :o)

  • My 2.5 yo just started doing the same thing. I tried pushing back his nap a little bit so he could stay up longer at night and that has majorly backfired. He has skipped his nap twice in the last two weeks and he NEVER does that. I'm blaming the sleep mess on teething. I blame everything on teething Stick out tongue

DS skipped his nap on Monday (he NEVER skips naps) and has been taking a long time to fall asleep for those, as well...he is in a decent mood so I can't even blame teething! (what will I blame once those 2 year molars finally come in???)

  • DS is in bed by 8p and usually is up between 7-8a. He still takes at least a one hour nap... every now and then we get lucky with a 2 hour nap, but it's not often.

He has his days where it takes him a long time to fall asleep, but usually he's out in about 20ish minutes.  If I don't keep him busy after his nap, bedtime can sometimes be challanging.

I wish I knew the answer!  Maybe it's just a phase?  Is there a sleep regression at this age?

  • DD goes to bed between 8:30-9:00pm... and wakes up around 9:00-9:30am and I love it this way. Have you tried talking to him about it? It might be a long shot, but sometimes it helps.

My DS too!!!!! He IS chewing on his fingers though so despite the cheery mood I am going with teething :-) I have no idea if he even has any of his 2 year molars. I don't want to know. I won't be able to use teething as an excuse anymore if I find out he has all four!

  • DS goes to bed at 8:30, but typically won't fall asleep until 9. I've tried putting him to bed earlier, but he just stays awake in his room until around 9. So I just go with it.

He wakes up between 7:30 and 8:30 every day and skips his nap about 50% of the time now, but he's also closer to 3 than 2 at this point.

It used to be that when he skipped his nap he'd go to sleep 1-2 hours earlier than usual. Not any more. *sigh*

  • She's almost 3 and goes to bed at 7 and wakes up around 7:30/8.

  • In bed 7:45pm and will OFTEN talk and sing to herself until 9pm, still wakes at 7pm.  This pattern has been going on for a solid month.  She seems totally rested so I'm taking it as ok.

She also never "freaks out" in her crib, she just talks & sings to herself.

Alec will be two next month. He goes down around 8. And sleeps till roughly 7.
  • DS will be 2 in August but he goes to bed at 8 and will sleep until 8-8:30 - he also takes a 2+ hour nap.  He loves him some sleep and I'm grateful that he does.
  • My kiddos have always gone down at 7:30 until recently. They started getting up about 5:30 so I've been trying to push them back until 8:30 (or 9 if I can stand it). They are sleeping until 6:30 or 7 and still take a 2 hr nap mid-day.

  • He's not quite two (only two more weeks!), but he is in bed by 7:30-8 every night.

Sometimes it takes a while for him to fall asleep, but we keep the same bed time anyway.

  • Kyle goes to bed at 8 every night and sleeps until 7am.  He also takes a 2-3 hr nap every day.  He goes to sleep right away for his naps and bedtime.

  • Grace has gone to bed at 8pm for almost her whole life :)

She sleeps until about 7am. She takes a 3 to 4 hour nap every day.

    She turned 2 in June.

    Good Luck, Heather

  • Ian is in bed between 7:30-8pm and sometimes it does take him awhile to fall asleep.  Usually not though.  He wakes up around 7am and takes about a 2-hour nap still.

  • She was 7 pm forever, then 7:30.  Now it's between 7:30 and 8.  She naps from 1-3 or 4.
  • Well apparently we have the worst sleeper on the nest.

She goes to sleep between 8:30-9pm and wakes up at 6am. 6:30 if we're super lucky. And I can count on one hand the number of naps she's had that have been longer than 2 hours.

  • 7:30... and is usually asleep within 10 minutes- 30 at the most.
  • She sleeps from 8:30ish to 8:30ish, but some nights she's still in there rolling around and singing at 10pm or even later.  Most of the time, she goes to sleep within half an hour or so.
  • 8pm, she gets up for school at 7:30am but if left to sleep (like weekends) she will sleep forever, like 10 or 11am!
