Baby Zantac?

anyone else have a LO on Zantac for suspected reflux? any side effects or "miracle" cure stories?

Re: Baby Zantac?

  • We're on it, and it has definitely helped.

  • DD took it from 2 weeks until 3 months or so.  It helped a ton!!  Somehow her reflux got better around the 3 month mark and she could stop taking it.

  • Dean took it from around 2 weeks until about 4 months.  He must have outgrown the painful portion of reflux because spitting up didn't seem to bother him anymore and we took him off it.  But, it did help early on.
  • It has not helped with the amount of spit up (adding cereal to his bottle did that) but he definitely is not in as much pain.  Some nights my DS would spit up vile and scream as he did it.  Feeding him at night was impossible. At least he is not in pain anymore.

  • It won't help with spitting up, it just helps with the pain caused by Reflux. Owen has been on it since 4 weeks for silent reflux. The only time anything comes up is when it is an entire bottles worth. The medicine itself helped, but DS still had a lot of feeding issues where he would refuse to eat or eat only tiny amounts. It took eliminating Dairy, hidden dairy and soy for him to be feeling really good.
  • It's helped my DS. He's been on it for about 4 weeks. He also had silent reflux that was making is cry very hoarsed. That has improved and he likes laying on his back now during the day.

  • thanks everyone!

it's a shot in the dark by our pedi. our LO has taken to screaming fits in the last week or so at any time of day, he's not a spitter and is still gaining weight very VERY well.

hopefully, this will stop the insanity...
