The gastroenterologist switched LO from Zantac to Prilosec and from Nutramigen to Neocate. I had never heard or seen Neocate before.
Anyone else have to use this? How does your LO do with it. So far we have only mixed the formula with breast milk.
I may have to stop bf all together if the prilosec doesn't help his reflux and this turns out to be a milk allergy.
Re: Anyone have to switch to Neocate?
I've heard of many people going to Neocate. Did you try to get it covered through insurance? It is crazy expensive! You can continue to BF if you get your diet under control. I finally have worked through Owen's issues. He is doing so well right now. He is eating full bottles and everything! It took me cutting out dairy, almost all hidden dairy and soy. The diet is hard, but I found a list of MSPI safe items at www.infantreflux.orgs. The message boards there have helped me with Owen on endless occasions. I hope that you get to the bottom of things with Ryder soon!
Looking back, I wish my pedi would have asked me to try cutting out hidden dairy. She just mentioned cutting back on dairy and playing with things to see what effects him. I had to research to find out that it may be an intolerance where I had to eliminate even hidden stuff.
