We are driving to NO next week.  Are there any must sees on the way there.

The drive is pretty bland actually. If you are near Alexandria (pretty much the halfway point) around meal time, there is a great bbq place called Eddie's. It is attached to a gas station, but don't let that fool you. It is good stuff. The exit is the first Alexandria one on the way down there. I think it might be called Air Base Road.

There is nowhere, and I mean nowhere to stop between Natchitoches and Alexandria, so if you even think you might have to pee, stop in Natchitoches because it is about an hour drive between the two cities.The drive between Alexandria and Laffayette is pretty bad too. Not as in the drive is bad, but lack of places to stop.

There is a cool store in Abbeville (kind of southwest of Laffayette) that sells amazing, handmade baby/little kid clothes. It is kind of out of the way, but if you want to know the name I will find out from my mom. She got a lot of our clothes there growing up and actually went yesterday to get some stuff for Caroline.

Unless y'all want to stop in Shreveport for some reason, be sure to take the 3132 loop to save some time. (I am assuming you are going through Shreveport and not down through Houston. It's faster, and I loathe Houston traffic.)

Last piece of advice, don't speed on the Atchafalaya Spillway, or actually between Laffayette and Baton Rouge. The whole thing is a big speed trap. Maybe you will get lucky and the coppers won't be out, but I have seen way too many people get pulled over in that area to even chance going more than 4 or 5 over the speed limit... not that I ever speed anyway.

Have fun!! Drink lots of water. It is hot and humid down there! Oh and eat lots of good food. The food is my favorite part of the city.

Thanks for all the tips. We are planning on leaving at 3-4 am so I don't think the bbq place will work for breakfast,lol.  Maybe we can stop there on the way back.
