Pregnant after a Loss

u/s results....

I was going to go to my appt. alone, but things worked out in DH's schedule where he was able to come along.  We met with a new doctor, who took a look at my chart, and rightfully surmised that after 3 prior m/c's we must be rather anxious.  He began to look around with the u/s probe and asked if we'd ever seen a heartbeat with our previous pregnancies.  I said "no" and began to prepare for bad news.  He replied, "Well I see one right here!"  I burst out crying, while DH hugged the doctor so hard, he almost fell off his stool!  I am completely in shock.  I've been weepy all day, trying to take it all in.

The doctor said the HB was fast, and the baby is measuring @ 6w2d - right in line with my LMP date.  I'm still in the "danger zone" for the next 6 wks, but he said everything so far looks very good.  He also told me I could come in as often as I want for u/s's (no charge!) for additional peace of mind!

Because of my clotting disorder (MTHFR), I'll have to start taking daily lovenox injections at about 12 weeks and continue them throughout the pregnancy.  He said by our appt next month, we should be able to hear the heartbeat.

This is truly a miracle baby.  Thank you all for being so supportive.  I just couldn't wait to share our news!

  • It sounds like you have a major keeper for a doctor. If they gave me the option I would have gotten u/s every week!
  • That is such great news!!  You have me crying over here!
  • Such great news fellow Buckeye.  And what a wonderful doctor.  Maybe I should get his name.  HA not really, mine is great too but that is awesome for the unlimited ultrasounds!
