Working Out

I've been to the gym a few times and I know what to do for cardio, but what about weights?  I'd like to work on my arms, back, and legs when I work out, but don't know what machines I can use.  What do you recommend?  If you use a book, what book do you use?

Re: Working Out

  • working out?? what's that?? lol

why don't you ask one of the trainer's to show you? i'm sure they'll be happy to help.

  • Loading the player...
  • I do treadmill or the bikes (though that is getting harder!) and small handheld free weights.  1-3 lbs weights for my arms.  I also use a balance/yoga ball for "pregnancy crunches", squats, and to sit while I do some of the arm lifts.

I have heard that the Denise Austin tape is great!

  • I mainly do upper body.  I followed my old routine but just don't go over 15 lbs weights.

For my lower I do Fluidity (doc said it was ok)

  • I don't use machines, I use free weights. I actually go to a "push" class at my gym which is a weight training class that is an hour long. Does your gym have anything like that? I have to modify some of the exercises but for the most part I can do everything. Obviously just don't use heavy weights. As for the machines, you can use any of them just abide by the same rule and don't do anything too heavy.?
  • My doctor said no weights : (  But I still do light arm weights.

  • The only thining I don't do is ab workouts so I stay away from those machines as well as the rower and the leg press (bending to get in and out is starting to feel uncomfortable). But the trainers have been really good at helping me and they keep an eye out to make sure I'm not overexerting myself or doing something that may hurt me.
  • Before getting pregnant I would use 15lb weights, but now that Im preg I use 10 lb weights. I think it depends on what you use to do before u were pregnant... if u didn't lift weights b4 I dont think its a good time to start.
