2nd Trimester

frenemies enjoying your expansion?

In my case it is not friends but two of my dear sisters. They've both made little comments about me getting bigger and I can see that they are enjoying it. They're both larger women and, comparatively, I have been the thinner sister for almost a decade.

Something must be wrong with me because I really can't even muster any hurt feelings about it. I am almost a bit happy for them. Like, enjoy this time of my fat ass that you could show a movie on and my wing like upper arms. Because it won't be forever.

Err... knock on wood I get back in shape during my year maternity leave.

Anyone else noticing others are enjoying seeing them expand?

  • Yes, my BFF told me my stomach "freaks her out."  She always makes jabs, but I have moved 3 hours away from her and don't want to deal with unfriending her so I just ignore her comments.

  • The only 2 people I know who don't like me (there's probably more out there, these are just the two who've made it known and are female) are super jealous. One is 29 and hasn't been married yet, but wants children and her sister is my age and is super jealous because she thinks I "beat her" at it.
  • LOL!  My sister is the personal assitant to Criss Angel and dates his brother... we call her "Miss Vegas" for a reason but I've always been naturally much skinier than her.  She REJOICES in every lb I gain Stick out tongue  It is okay, she can enjoy her last few months b/c I will be back in pre-preg before next summer Wink

  • LOL! One of my "frenemies" is a bit annoyed b/c she really bulked up during her first pregnancy and stayed that way past her second. She commented the other day that I'm the one that's pregnant but she's the one that looks pregnant. She gives me terrible advice, and I really think it's b/c she wants to see me gain unnecessary weight.

You seem like the one who enjoys being the skinny one, maybe they are just giving you the same attitude you give them.  I'm sorry but you seem like you hold your ordinary thinness as being superior and you'll only be on their level for a short time.  That attitude sucks.

  • I recently lost 40lbs and my when I told my family I was pregnant, my lovely twin sister said " oh good, now I can be the skinny twin again". She is so much taller/prettier/skinnier than me anyway (grrr), so I was a bit taken aback. It is like she was glad I will put back on the weight I have lost.

hahaha! I have to laugh at this because my twin is one of the sisters enjoying my weight gain. She was the thinner one during high school and college and then we kind of switched post-college.

While she is kind of enjoying my gain she is also my workout buddy so she wants me to get back into running, etc quickly post-partum. She's also hoping that if I am fired up to get back into shape after baby it will help her. Hopefully we will both be able to motivate each.

Sorry that is what you got from my post.

I don't hold my ordinary size as being superior to either of them. I was a lot larger than both of them in high school/college - most of my family struggles with weight. If anyone can understand how hard it is to drop an unwanted 40-50 lbs it is me.

PS. Your quilting blog is amazing. I'm trying to find a cute boy pattern for a baby quilt but finding nothing. If you don't think I am a complete a**hole can you recommend a website for patterns?
