Dallas-Fort Worth Babies

Visiting Dallas in July with 19 month old

we'll be visiting at the end of July.  What are the best kids activities? dh will be working so it will be just me and ds exploring the area. we'll be there for 4-5 days and we'll be staying north of the city-- just north of Carrollton. We've never spent any time in Dallas.

Thank you.

  • Big SmileIf you're willing to make a drive, the Fort Worth Zoo is full of fun!

Maybe he'd like to play here: https://www.ci.frisco.tx.us/safetytown/Pages/default.aspx

    Small petting zoo: https://www.cityofirving.org/parks-and-recreation/facilities/fritz-park-petting-farm.html

We like to just cruise the local malls too.  My son loves the play area at the Shops of Willowbend.

There are lots of random splash parks as well.  Or this water park: https://www.nrh2o.com/

We have a Six Flags theme park as well.

    Hope those help! Big Smile

  • It is hotter than hades here right now, and it will probably be when you are here barring some kind of miracle. Inside stuff may be your best bet. If you happen to go to gymboree where you are, there is one in Plano you can go to. The play area at the Galleria is a good one.

  • We love going to the Dallas aquarium on hot days. It's pretty pricey, though... about $20/person for adults.

The Fort Worth Zoo is fabulous -- we're members there (and at the aquarium too). But we're scared to venture out there in the current heat!

We love going to the Cimmaron Family Aquatic Center, which is in Irving, not too too far from Carrollton: https://www.cityofirving.org/parks-and-recreation/parks-and-recreation-aquatics-pages/Cimarron-Aquatic-Center.html. They have two HUGE water slides (like, way too big for toddlers, fun for grownups!), a neat play area with some smaller slides, and then a separate kiddie pool that is perfect for toddlers.

A lot of the libraries have story times for toddlers that might be fun to check out.

Like pp said, Gymboree might be an option if you go at home... there's a Gymboree in Lewisville (near I-35 & FM 3040), which would be an easy drive from north Carrollton. If you're not a Gymboree member, there's a place called Going Bonkers that's nearby: https://www.goingbonkers.com/index.htm. They have a big indoor play area. We haven't been there, but our old sitter used to take DD and she loved it.

    Have fun, and stay cool!
