I hate DF's Cat

She is evil.

I laid a onesie out in the spare bedroom on the spare bed because I didn't have a hanger for it. It's my FAVORITE onesie I have for my LO, because I had it custom made off of Etsy and it has the outline of a Westie on the front of it, in pink with polka dots. It's adorable.

The cat went upstairs, and urinated ONLY ON the onesie that I love so much. She is now locked in the basement where her litterbox is, because DF is golfing and I am so tired of this cat peeing on things. We have a gorgeous house, and she pukes and pees everywhere. She also bit me the other day and I am deathly afraid she is going to bite LO.

UGH! I love my dog, and I normally like cats, but I HATE this cat.

Vent over.

I know....but as much as I don't like her, I hate doing that to an animal. We tried to get DF's mom to take her, but she didn't want another cat.

Is it bad that when the cat ran away last year, I hoped she would stay gone? Devil

So maybe she isn't evil?? I would really like her if she didn't ruin our house. I may have to suggest this to DF.

  • I vote that you should put kitty out on the front step in a big box saying "Bad Cat" right before DF gets home.
  • I second the vet trip, especially if this has been getting worse over the last few months or something.

LOL. I just texted him every swear word in the book. I am so upset. I hope the onesie washes up okay!

  • A vet trip def needs to take place.  Usually cats won't just urinate on things (unfixed males will sometimes, but not females).  Is she spayed?  If not she could be trying to spray...or she could be sick.

This. My cat had issues with peeing outside the litter box, and it turned out that he had a severe bladder infection. Take him to the vet, don't lock him in the basement.

ETA: And my cat's favorite place to pee was in my laundry basket. Not off in a corner somewhere--he wanted (and needed) to be discovered. Sounds like your cat may be doing something similar!

She is spayed. Thank you for the suggestion! I really hope that a Vet trip will help, I am at my wits end with this cat. She urinated on a bunch of my maternity clothes a few weeks ago and I about lost it then.

I have never had a cat before, so the advice on the vet is definitely helpful. I had no clue that this could signal a problem.

  • I hate DH's cat too..... so I know how you feel.  Luckily he is getting kinda old (12 years), so I'm secretly hoping he dies before the baby comes.  mean.... but true!  lol  Big Smile

  • I do believe that on the Esty website there is a place where they will make cute onsies out of the aforementioned cat!! That should stop the weeing! Mwwwahahahahahahahaha Devil

The smell should come out in the wash...use Oxyclean in the cycle. Our eldery cat did that on a pile of clothes I was going to take to the laundry room. The smell came right out.

Maybe she peeing there is telling you she is stressed and what the cause it.

  • Cats sometimes urinate on things when they get nervous or can sense changes in the household (like bringing in baby stuff, your maternity clothes, etc). Have you tried confining her to a bathroom with her litterbox for a period of time? I'd go ahead with the trip to the vet to rule out a UTI infection and maybe see what they suggest. We've had good luck with a slow introduction to the baby things (we have six cats) - leave the car seat out for a bit, spray around it with feline calming spray, etc.

I also hate my DH's cat... For many, many reasons and they're all due to aggression. And NOTHING is wrong with him! He's healthy. Just a mean cat. I'm waiting for him to do something kinda bad to the LO to get DH to realize he'd be happier in a different home 'casue apparently attacking me isn't enough. Not even going to go there, 'cause last time I got the PETA-patrol on my post. Confused Feel free to PM me to vent more about kitty! :-)

  • You definitely need to google the reasons a cat would urinate in a place other than his or her litter box.  There are *multiple* reasons why this can happen and very few of them are personal against you or because the cat is evil-- that's just how we tend to view things because we personify cats and project complex human intentions onto their actions.

A vet visit is definitely in order.  Your vet may recommend a variety of interventions including different litter, multiple boxes, antibiotics, behavior modifications, etc.  You will probably be able to solve this problem.

Until then, always keep clothes and blankets hanging up or put away.  At least that will stop her from doing it again until you get it fixed.

Good luck, and I hope it works out for you.  I know it's a frustrating problem but it's likely that she can't help herself for whatever reason.
