How much more luck would I have...?

I went to a combined BRU/Toys R Us this weekend and was not impressed by selection. I am assuming a regular BRU would be better but the nearest one is more of a drive. Should I bite the bullet and compare the two (this would require an additional 1 1/2 hours on the road to do this) or not?

Anyone been to both and can tell me how they compare?

Yeah, it is better.  It is an additional 45 min drive in addition to the 45 minute drive to TRU (I live in a small town outside a bigger city).

There are just more selection items!  Strollers, cribs, bedding, etc.  I also utilize thier online store a lot and LOVE IT!

The stand-alone BRU is amazing compared to the combined TRU/BRU - all we seem to have here in Canada are the combined stores and I hate it after being to a BRU only in Buffalo.  I'm itching to go back!

Just a BRU is much better to find registry items.  Beware though- there is SO much that it can be overwhelming (like the Ikea of baby stores).

It depends on how far the drive is. The combined stores dont have as much as the bigger ones, plus you have to fight your way around all the kiddies running around with the toys.

I may be the only one here, but I was not impressed with BRU at all!  Yes, they have a ton of selection, but I found it to be overwhelming with no sales staff to help, and I didn't like the quality of the furniture.  I went to USA Baby this weekend and had a much better experience.

They are starting to combine them, so eventually I dont think there will be freestanding BRU's. ?I worked at a BRU and have been to a combined one, you will find more selection at a regular one, but the last time I was at the BRU close to me I wasnt impressed either. ?I knew what I wanted for everything but bedding and furniture, it was pathetic the selection they had. ?I'm hoping they will get some new stuff in soon, cause I still need to decide on a a crib and with 13 weeks to go Im gettin nervous not knowing what im going to get!

Like PP's have said, the freestanding store will def. have more to choose from.  However, think of your shower guests...will they be in that area, or will most of the items not show up for them if they only have your local TRU?  Not to say they couldn't order online, but just something to consider.
