Would you ever allow camera crews during delivery? (clicky poll)

Since I teach, I am spending a lot of my time doing housework and nesting. I have caught a large amount of birthing shows. For a while, these shows terrfied me b/c it seemed that EVERYONE had an emergency c-section or horrible complications. Now I am in the fascinated stage b/c of all the screaming-teeth gnashing-animal sounds births. I have to wonder WHY people would choose to have a camera crew follow them around to begin with.

What are your thoughts?

IMO, some of those ladies are just too over the top with their drama.

  • Oh hell no. There will be no pictures either. No, no, no.

  • I wouldn't mind.  It's not like everyone on TV sees your lady bits.  I probably wouldn't care if the camera crew did.  I wonder if they only have women doing the camera work?

  • My initial reaction to your headline question was "Oh hell to the no".

I don't even want DH to bring a regular camera into the delivery room let alone camcorders. We finally agreed he could bring the camera only taking pictures of the LO after he/she is delivered.

  • Hell no, I don't even want a digital camera in there.

This is what I was thinking as well.

  • I might.  Call me crazy, but I would love to be able to video tape it after hearing DH's perspective on how weird it all looks while it's happening.  They wouldn't show specific parts, so I don't think I'd care.  The only reason I wouldn't is because then I'd have to deal with a MIL who would think she should be there too and she drives me insane so no way!

  • I voted that I would, but only for the money, not to "share my birthing experience."

We had this same discussion at lunch today! And my answer was the same as yours. :)

  • Can I vote-If I'm getting paid for it I would do it?

I am a documentary photographer and plan to shoot as much of the birth myself as possible...we'll see how that goes.
