Wall letters for a boy

How did you hang your wall letters for a boy? I don't want to use ribbons to hang them, but I would prefer not to put more holes in the wall. Any suggestions? If you used a shelf, how did you anchor the letters so they were steady? Pictures appreciated! TIA.

Could you use a thicker guage wire? You could bend it and twist it, or leave it fairly functional.

We used saw tooth hangers
