2nd Trimester

movement question

Hey girls. I'm 21 weeks and I have been feeling flutters/kicks for weeks now. Still have not felt anything on the outside yet....poor DH! I know he moves around plenty...it was hard for the u/s tech to get a clear photo of him last time! But just nothing on the outside yet. Sad Two questions:

1. I know everyone is different, but does anyone know the average time that most women start feeling on the outside?

2. Just for reference, when did you start feeling on the outside? Or if you have not yet, how many weeks are you?

Re: movement question

  • I would think within the next few weeks you should start feeling it from the outside. I don't exactly remember when it happened with ds, but that time frame seems about right.

  • I can feel her from the outside rarely! DH has onlt felt her once. However, I feel her all the time.
  • My DH felt him around 18-19 weeks, but I think that was a fluke.  He only consistently feels him within the last week or two, but only if I'm laying down.  I think the books say that some won't start feeling outside until 24 weeks or even later.
  • I could feel baby move at 17 weeks.  My husband felt baby the first time at 20 weeks and only a few times between weeks 20-23.  I am 24 weeks now and he can feel it almost every time now.  I think that I'm about average on the timeline.
  • I am almost 22wks.  I feel him moving a lot.  Have not felt him from outside yet.  I also do not have a bump yet either.  I know it will come with time.  I am in no rush with this heat wave...

  • I felt the first kicks and saw/felt them from the outside at the same time.  Just a few days shy of 20 weeks.  I never felt the flutters everyone speaks of.  I think I probably assumed it was gas each time.  But once you feel a real kick (or punch), so you exactly what it is.
  • I'll be 22w tomorrow and I haven't felt her regularly from the outside until today, but all day today I have felt her from the outside (as well as watched my belly move). DH has only felt her once so far, but I expect he will be able to more often from here on out.?
  • Dh has felt him from the outside since 20 weeks
  • I am with you mama.  I have felt the baby from the outside only once - and that was when I had the doppler right over her and she punched.

  • I have not yet, and I am 21w4d. BUT I have an anterior placenta, which makes it harder to feel.

  • Not sure the average but I would think that since you can feel baby, its only a matter of time before he can. I also hear some womens belly are harder then others so thats why some women can see their babys hands in the 3 tri and others just see a bump.

As soon as I felt baby 21w DH could feel him too.
