Maternity Wear for Work?

I'm looking for good maternity wear for work that doesnt' cost crazy money, but also isn't cheaply made?

I tried the Motherhood Maternity outlet, but it only really had dresses, not work clothes (we're business formal).

Thanks so much in advance!

  • have you tried Target?

  • Check out Old Navy. Now most of the stuff you have to buy online, but I got a ton of cute stuff this past weekend. Also they have long, petite and average size too.

  • Do you have a Gordmons or Marshalls where you live? I haven't bought any clothes from there because all of mine are hand-me-downs, but I've heard good things about their maternity sections. You might want to check them out.
  • I would check out ebay too, it's really hit or miss though. I did find a new Old Navy skirt I'm planning on just wearing to work, after shipping it was $7.
  • I got a lot of my stuff at MM, but Kohl's and JCP also had some decent stuff. I found it hard to get a "full" outfit at one place and just mix and match.  Dress pants were the hardest to find.  So far JCP was my best find, with MM tops/sweaters.  We're business casual though, so I'm not sure if I'm much help.  Do you need suits?
  • I just got these in black and brown from Kohls:  Crop Pants  they have some other cute stuff for work as well, always sales too!

  • For a business professional environment, you'll probably have to look at A Pea in the Pod and other pricier options.  Old Navy, Gap, and Target don't have professional attire at all and Motherhood only really has slacks.  Ann Taylor Loft also had some slacks online, but nothing more than that in the "professional" category.
  • The nicest brand I've seen for work is Pea in the Pod.  I'm an attorney and have worn some of their stuff to the office and it works.
  • It's been really hard to find maternity suits.  The problem I've found early on is that the jackets are for women who are REALLY pregnant, so they are just ridiculous before you have a substantial bump.  I've found that, so far, wearing a bella band and my jackets open has been the best idea (as well as picking up a couple cheap suits at Express in larger sizes).  I'm hoping that the dress code will be more lenient now that I am showing, so I wear a sheath dress or maternity pants from Pea in the Pod with a jacket that I already own (open).  If a proper suit is required, Pea in the Pod does have maternity suit jackets, and at some point I assume they will fit.  I also found this link from corporette to be really helpful.  Good luck.
