CPR class- where did you do yours?

We have a quote from one of the nurses at AAOBGYN who does in home classes but I'd like to compare her prices to others.  I've placed a call in to the hospital but no response yet- do they offer CPR classes?

Did you take a CPR class? Where, what was the cost, if you dont mind saying. Thanks!

  • Thanks Michelle- do you know if that cost is per person or per couple?
  • We got a flyer from AAOBGYN for Zinda's class as well. Apparently she does them in the waiting room at NAMC. I'm surprised you didn't get the flyer?
    Dear Bump: You suck.

It's per person...which is pretty steep imo!

  • I use CPR Resources (and love them!) I believe it's $25 per person for CPR and First Aid training. They meet all over Austin and it's firefighters that run the courses. The guys that I've had the times I've been for training have been funny and make the course very interesting.
  • Rssn- I'm pretty surprised too, in fact I'm a bit disappointed that my OB hasn't even mentioned anything about nursing, birthing, or CPR classes at all...maybe he'll do so at our next appointment, but for planning, anal me, I would have liked to know much earlier .

Michelle- yeah, that is a bit steep.  The quote I've been given is only $5 cheaper though, so that may be the norm range.(?)

We took ours at NAMC and I think it was $35 or so for both DH and me.  I don't know how much your person is, but I would have loved to have someone come to the house.  I would certainly pay a little more for that.
  • I get my CPR classes at work for free.

A group class outside your home is going to be less expensive. I really think people benefit from seeing others practice. The instructor is going to help out those who are not doing things correctly, which is helpful for everyone in the room. I think there is a benefit from the group learning experience that you will not get from a one on one class. All this is just my opinion however, and others will feel differently. I've taken so many CPR classes that I could probably teach it!

  • A friend's husband is a firefighter who teaches CPR through the CPR Resources.  I think it's still $25/person and you can get a group of friends together and he'll come to you.
  • we did it at red cross.

  • Cristina<3Whit - This likely wont work for you... but DH will be teaching a CPR class for expectant mothers and others in Sept/Oct.  The cost will be quite less.  I will post more as we get closer.

ACC also offers a course as well, I think.

  • Thanks for all the info ladies- I think we may look into some of the options offered or just stick to our quote.
