2nd Trimester

Oh no bad news about our crib!

DH and I were SOOOO excited to pick out our crib last week, we had decided on the Di Vinci Twinkle, I e-mailed the company to be sure the toddler conversion kit came with it. I got an e-mail this morning stating they did, now recieved this... So whats the point of a 4-in-1 if you can't get the rails... ERRR!

"I replied to your inquiry about the Da Vinci Twinkle 4-in-1 Convertible Crib in Espresso earlier today. However we have recently as of this morning received an addendum on what is now available with these cribs and the company is no longer producing the toddler guard rails for purchase with their cribs or purchasable separately. Thus this crib now does NOT come with toddler guard rails. I am sorry for the confusion!"

Re: Oh no bad news about our crib!

  • My parents never used toddler rails for me or my brother (we're still both living), but if you want to there are ones you can buy from BRU.

  • I'd get a new crib. You paid the money for those guard rails and now you're not getting them. Get something else.

We haven't actually ordered it yet, plan to this week.

  • I agree that you should go with a different crib.  It seems like a rip off to pay for something that you can't get.  However, if you're in love with that particular crib you can buy toddler rails at Wal-Mart or BRU that you can attach under the mattress.
  • We were actually advised not to purchase the toddler rails by the store who sold us the crib. They said the toddler rails were a relatively new idea (within the last few years) and that the beds don't sit high enough at that stage to even hurt the child if they fell out. His exact words were "if the kid falls out once, he won't do it again." At the time I thought it sounded kind of harsh but like the OP said, we didn't grow up with toddler rails and ended up just fine. I guess it's a matter of personal preference and what you feel comfortable doing.

  • And just to add, we won't use toddler rails.  I really don't see a need for them since the bed will be low.
