Listening to the Baby's Heartbeat

I was thinking about getting one of those at home prenatal baby heart listeners. Is anyone else getting one or does anyone have one? A friend of mine loved hers (she gave it away before I could get my hands on it) and said it worked great. I found it on closeout at https://dealpi.ejoop.com/deal-cat/Baby/7-0-0.html for $19.99 with free shipping and seems to be much cheaper than other places except Amazon, but Amazon doesn't offer free shipping.

Any thoughts?

  • I've only heard negative things about that one.

If you want a good one you need to get a doppler.  If you are planning on having more babies you will be able to start listening to their HB around 12 weeks with one.  This is the one I got...it is $50 with free shipping and is a great investment.

  • those cheapo monitors do not work. I had the BeBe sounds listener and you couldn't hear a thing, the actual real dopplers cost well over $100 and you can rent for $25-$60 a month from some online retailers. I have a doppler that was around $450 a friend borrowed me. Check out about renting an actual one.
  • Thanks! I will take a look.
  • i dont know anything about that one, chances are with the price it wont work until later in the pregnancy (as opposed to my hi bebe, where i could pick up the HB at 12 weeks). mine was $99 on ebay with free shipping (also came with gel) and i think it was worth every penny. it gives me peace of mind, and i know it will come in handy later when LO gets so big and isnt moving as much and i can just check on the HB! plus i will use it with all my pregnancies. i say if you are going to get one, get a nicer one!
  • That sounds like a great price but I haven't tried that brand out myself.  I've seen a youtube video (now removed) of one that looked similar and it got a really bad review.

This is the one I have ($99) :

I got the angel sounds one form ebay for like $30. It works great and I have been able to hear the heartbeat ever since the 13 week.
  • I rented one from babybeats for $22 a month.  Works great.
