Stay at Home Moms

so I got laid off and now....

I'm going to do the SAHM thing for a little while. Will try to find something part time in a few weeks.

any advice?

Funny, I was scared about putting him in daycare, he's only been there 3 months and now I'm sad that I have to pull him out. I liked watching him interact w/the other kids.

I just want to make sure he develops the way he should, I know daycare works with him on a lot of things and I just want to make sure I do the same.

Re: so I got laid off and now....

  • Sorry that you got laid off.  This economy really sucks.  You can do just as good of a job as the daycare.  You can also check out your local public library, they should have storytime for all age groups and it's free.
  • You can do just as good of a job as the daycare did, trust me! If you are wanting to find more formal ideas for things to do your with DS just try googling "toddler lesson plans." I know when I worked in a daycare this is what most of the teachers did. Daycares usually have a curriculum that the teachers must follow, but in the two seperate daycares I've worked in the teachers always looked for other ideas to supplement the curriculum. You can find some really cute projects, activities, and different ways to work on things with your DS :)

  • Same thing happened to me--I got laid off at the end of my maternity leave.  At first I was upset because of worrying about money, etc., but the ton of extra time with my son has been soooo great.  Enjoy the time!
