I don't know about you, but one expense that has increased for us that no one really warned us about was toilet paper! I have to go all the time and that means spending more on TP! What are some of your unexpected expenses that aren't the fun baby ones?
Re: Unexpected expenses
So on the TP thing. I found and awesome Weis generic brand and even though it's not 2-ply or anything, even with an extra long piece the TP seems to last and last. We got a 20 pack like a month ago and still aren't even halfway done with it.
As for my extra expense it would have to be milk. I wasn't a big milk drinker before but I go through it like crazy now!
Did you get a prescription from your doctor for the strips and lancets? If so, your insurance should at least cover part... if not all of the expense of them. Mine did.
Agree!
And if your Rx plan won't cover it, try medical. And vice versa.
My first haircut!

Me too!!! I have also noticed that we are spending a TON more $ for food...eating healthy is not cheap! We would get a sandwich or pizza a few times a week, but now with GD it is nearly impossible. I am starting insulin next week, so that will be another added expense, in addition to the test strips and supplies. But I know it is worth it!!!
My worst expense is parking. I should have realized this when I picked my OB, but I guess I didn't think about it much. Her practice is connected to the hospital located downtown. So every visit it is $5 or so bucks. Not too bad when it is only once a month, but when my appointments go to every two weeks it will be annoying. Plus anytime I'm sent to another office like for the big ultrasound or to the lab it will be another $.
I should add that the parking expense is trivial compared to what I am now paying for my med insurance through COBRA. $340 a month!!! Once the baby is born I can switch to private insurance for only $120 a month.
They don't offer parking validation at your office?

Wasted Food.
I know that is terrible but I find that I am buying things thinking "Yum - can't wait to cook it!" and then I can't bring myself to cook it.
not only that, but that GD diet isn't cheap ...
For you ladies with GD if you haven't heard of it the book Calorie King Calorie, Fat and Carbohydrate Counter will help you a lot with counting Carbs.
I myself do not have GD but I nanny a little girl who has JD and I have to count her carbs every meal and give her meds based on the Carbs. This book is very helpful.
Good Luck
