Are you taking an infant CPR class?

Does your hospital offer them or are you taking it somewhere else?

Re: Are you taking an infant CPR class?

  • I'm taking one and making DH take it as well.  I havne't figured out where yet, I was just going to go through the Red Cross but that's a good idea about the hospital.
  • I get a re-cert every year. Everyone should.

  • Yep, hubby and I are taking an infant CPR/choking class that is offered through the hospital we're delivering at.  We're going to ask the grandparents to attend too.
  • I work in healthcare, so its required for me to be CPR certified and they always go over infant CPR in the class everytime I have to recertify. I don't know if that's the same thing as being certified in infant CPR.
  • My hospital does offer them and MH and I will be taking one.

  • Our hospital does offer them and we will be taking a class. Better to be prepared...
  • My husband is an EMT, so he is very well trained with CPR for all ages, as well as other medical emergencies. ?He is going to teach me before the baby comes (although I have taken non-certifying CPR classes in the past...)

  • Both myself and Dh take one every year for my work. DH was very happy to take it the first time when I was pg with DD.
  • My husband and I took one through the hospital this past Wednesday evening.  I was a lifeguard so I've taken CPR many times for certification and my husband is child/adult certified as well.  I had him take it with me for the infant portion and a refresher.

It was not a certification class, but was definitely worth going through.  I figure the practice can't hurt and if something did happen, hopefully the chances of responding with some confidence (even in extreme panic) are greater with more knowledge.

     Take it if you can!

  • I will because I need to renew my certifications anyways. I'm making DH do it too. I was a medical assistant, and will be starting nursing school soon, so I have Provider certification anyways. Infant, child and adult.
