I just got back from the peri and found out that both my babies have virtually no amniotic fluid left and my cervix has halved itself in a week. The dr said that at this point there is really no safe treatment for either condition - an amnio-infusion would be too risky b/c you really can't see any sacs left and the risk of infection is really high, and a cerclage (which they normally would have put in at this point) cannot be done b/c of infection. So, now I'm supposed to keep doing what I've been doing - drinking a ton of water and strict bedrest until my next appt on Tues (exactly 23 weeks). At that point they'll check everyone again then we'll meet with the neonatologists and I'll possibly be admitted for steriod shots and monitoring. They'll keep a close eye on them and if they get distressed then we'll deliver.
The positive news is that both the boys are still wiggling a little, their organs seem to be of good sizes and functioning well and, though my cervix shortened by 50% in a week, it is still hard, closed and at 1.5-2 cm long.
DH and I decided to fight for them even if they have to be delivered at 23 weeks. I'm so scared and sad that this is happening. It's hard to be positive at this point, but I'm trying to be. I really hope they will be ok until I get into the hospital and can at least make it to 24 weeks - though everyday after that point would be great.
Please send any good thoughts and stories my way.
Thank you for your support.
Valerie

I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
My friend delivered her b/g twins at 24 weeks after 6 weeks on hospital bedrest. They will be 3 years old this Christmas and are healthy, active, beautiful and happy toddlers.

After a PCOS dx, 18 months of trying, 3 rounds of clomid and 2 follistim IUIs our babies are here!
You and your lil guys are in my prayers. Im sorry you are having to go through this. Try to stay off your feet as much as possible if you arent already on bedrest. I also heard one bumpie say that she drank a gatorade an hour and lots of water and regained fluid that was lost. I cant remember who it was. One of the twins water broke but the hole closed up. She drank lots of fluids and gained most of the fluid back.
Try to stay positive. Lots of people are praying for you and your babies!
Big HUGS for you and DH. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. Thoughts and prayers coming your way Valerie. Hang in there.
