More questions ladies. Okay, so we had our blood work done as part of the NT process yesterday before our ultrasound and then during the u/s we found out it was twins!! Shock. So, now we go for our NT scan next week but I am curious how this will all work with twins and is anything different. I read on-line that the blood work will be elevated because it's twins and so now I'm wondering if that was pointless?? Anyone know how this all works with two babies??? TIA!!!!
Re: NT scan and blood work
The NT scan consists of two parts, the bloodwork and the ultrasound measurement of a little section at the back of the neck of the babies. With twins they can measure each baby seperately which will give you a good sense of if each baby is high or low risk. And some doctors will still do the bloodwork, but the bloodwork is unreliable for twins because the presence of two babies means that it is automatically higher than a singleton.
