Got news today!!

We went for our first u/s today and Surprise!!!! ?It's twins! ?We are so very excited but also shocked. ?They are fraternal and they moved my due date up, but we have two healthy babies and two heartbeats!! ?Crazy!! ?I have so many questions and concerns. ?This is my first pregnancy and we just started trying in April (we thought it would take a while) and were surprised when it happened right away. ?Then today we were blessed with another surprise!! ?Twins don't run in my family so we didn't expect this. ?Wow!! ?What a blessing. ?

Congrats!!! Twins are crazy! We are similar to you, our first pregnancy and spontaneous identical twins! The difference is twins DO run in my family. There are 19 sets, our boys will be the 20th set!! So exciting! Good Luck, this board is great and an incredible resource!

Congrats. Our twins were a complete shock too.

Unless you know the gender, you cannot know that they are fraternal from an U/S. Even if they have separate membranes and placentas they could be identical. There is a ton of misinformation available about this.

Really?? ?That is crazy! ?The Ultrasound tech talked like she knew. ?Well that's exciting!! ?I guess we'll find out in a few weeks what we've really got going on.?

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy!!

I agree with previous poster, you won't be able to tell until after they are born unless they are boy/girl. If they are mono/di or mono/mono then they would be identical, but di/di can go either way.

Welcome and congrats!  You should get Dr. Luke's book "Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads."  It has some really good info.

Hi, congrats!

I just got similar news myself! DH and I were trying for our 2nd baby and after just 1 cycle, were pregnant. Then, to my surprise, on Tuesday I found out we're having twins!! Crazy is all I can say .

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the info. on this board. I'll have to look into that book too!

Congrats and welcome!! Ditto pp re: identical vs. fraternal. My girls were in seperate sacs with seperate placentas and we still don't know if they are identical or fraternal!
