Grew today to include shoe shopping.
Normally they're great shoppers. ?They mind me, stay close, etc.
For some unknown reason taking their shoes off sent a "WAHOO... we're home!! ?Time to run around like banchees!!" signal to their tiny little heads.
It was insane.
Didn't help much that we got NO assistance at the Stride Rite outlet. ?They had 4 foot tall stacks of tiny toddler shoe boxes that Jace toppled over and then I couldn't get to balance so they kept falling (again... store employee looks at us, says "oopsie!" and doesn't help). ?Of the 6 boxes of shoes I opened not a single one actually contained the size on the outside of the box and 3 of them didn't even have a matching pair inside.
Fast forward to the regular Stride Rite store and a FORTY FIVE minute wait to get measured and try on shoes. ?I pulled out all the stops. ?Gold fish, reading books, heck.... I even started letting Jace try on girls sandals just for sport.
So....
?
my new list:
?
1. ?Swimming. ?If I take them both by myself one of them will surely drown. ?As in "die". ?Not even gonna try this one.
and now...
2. ?Shoe shopping for them.
?
NEVER AGAIN without help....
?
and I need a drink.
?
or 2.?
?
Today I was that Mom that I used to eyeball thinking "Can't you control your kids?"I know now that sometimes the answer is "no, I can't. ?Thanks for noticing .... and glaring...."??
Re: My list of things I can NOT do with them without help..
I feel your pain. I actually braved the zoo with all 3 kids the other day for a Nestie GTG - wasn't so bad because they were all contained (the girls in the double stroller and DS in a carrier).......
It's rough! Hang in there!
I do NOT take my DD shoe shopping. I go, buy 2 or 3 pairs in varying sizes, and come home and fit them. Then return the ones that don't fit.
The extra time/gas costs are worth my sanity.
Some things get harder as they get older and other things get easier. Swimming is so easy for us now. My almost 4 y/o puts on a swim ring and swims around really well and my 2 y/o sits on the stairs and won't move. When she was younger, I put her in a baby boat floaty (ok, sometimes both went into one) and life was good.
shopping ... that hasn't been enjoyable with both for a long time. But, it's not to bad if I just have 1 with me.
