I am due in November with our first child and will be looking into hiring a doula for the birth. Have any of you used a doula here locally and could you recommend someone specifically?

I don't know of any doulas, but maybe you could call your primary care or OB doc's office and see if they have any recommendations. You may find that the midwives in your OB's office know people with the same philosophy/style as your OB.
Or I'd check out the people on this list. My OB is part of this network:
I used Sizzley Aceveda with Childbirth Options. (Just google Childbirth Options Tampa) She is very sweet and I really enjoyed her help. Afterwards she was available for breastfeeding advice and is someone who I now consider a friend. I probably won't need a doula for my second child but it was really helpful for my first birth experience
