Increased Spit Up..

We haven't really had an issue with DD spitting up until about 3 days ago. She's been spitting up a lot (not a whole feeding or anything) after each feeding. We do all of the stuff that is recommended: keep her upright afterward, burp her a few times during each feeding, etc. She's not bothered by it at all but I'm concerned that it may be a sign that something's wrong.

Has anyone else's LO had a period where they spit up a lot more than normal?

Re: Increased Spit Up..

  • My DD didn't ever spit up until she hit 2 months! All of a sudden it was every feeding and alot. My pedi said it was normal and not to worry. She did it until she was consistently on solids, maybe 8 or 9 months.

My pedi also stressed that even though it looks like alot, it's usually not as much as you think.  And that if she's not bothered then it's probably fine. We also tried all the tricks, but it didn't seem to matter.

GL! The old school cloth diapers were a life saver for us!

Ocho has had a few days here and there were it seems like she spits up more than usual.  She doesn't have any other symptoms and I notice it's gotten better. A couple weeks ago she was spitting up what seemed like 1/4 - 1/2 oz, but the past several days she hasn't spit up at all. I know I chalk everything up to growing, but maybe it is related to growing?

I know that wasn't helpful, but I wanted to say Ocho has gone through it, too.

  • Thanks y'all. It's good to know that it's somewhat normal. I thought we were lucky because DD wasn't a spitter upper. We are definitely going through a few outfits and tons of cloth diaper burp rags every day.
