Hello! Happy longest day of the year to everyone. Just wanted to say hi because it is my first official day on the boards

Husband and I are officially TTC beginning in August. Had a question - should I be going off BC now if we're wanting me to ovulate in August or just wait until August? Thanks for your help. Have a great day all
Re: Hello ladies and a question to get started!
Everybody's different. If it were me, I'd go off it now and just use condoms or something until ready to TTC, since you may or may not ovulate coming straight off the pill.
Lurk a lot, and read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Know it can take average healthy couples up to a year (or more) to get pregnant. Welcome, and good luck!
Hi, welcome and GL.
Do whatever you want. Some people o and get ku right away, others take a while to "regulate."
I'd probably stop BC now since for many people, it takes a few months for your body to get back on track.
However, if you do stop - be prepared with back-up or at least the knowledge you could get PG sooner than expected ;-)

1. It's your call if you go off BCPs now or in August but be prepared for a potential pregnancy NOW if you go off them now. It's been known to happen.
2. Get ready for wonky cycles. Who knows if you'll even ovulate right away.
3. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is an excellent resource to help you learn your way around your own body, so to speak, since SO much of the info we're taught in sex ed is terribly wrong.
I cannot hear/see the word "regulate" without thinking of the song by Warren G/Nate Dogg. REGULATORS!
To OP: Everybody is different. I would get off now and use alternate BC. GL.

Forgot about this too. Please get to know your own body, and be patient. TCOYF helped me a lot, and I'm a science teacher.
Good luck.
I origially wanted to start trying in November or so. My OB friend told me to ditch the BCP sooner since she thought it would take a while for me to get pregnant (no professional opinion here, just a hunch). I talked it over with DH and we decided to go for August instead. If we get pregnant sooner then bonus and if not I am not just starting later this year.
I guess the point of all that was it's really up to your and your husband and what you feel comfortable with.
