*holds up hands* I promise this will be one of my few.
On Friday, I went for my Glucose test. But it seems that I am the only one who has had one like this. It was a 2 hour test where I went in early morning, they drew blood, sent me home for breakfast and told me to come back in 2 hours for a second blood draw.
No sweet drink, no waiting in the office for an hour. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of test or if my doctor is just stuck in the dark ages.
Anyone?
Re: Glucose Test question...
I didn't have that kind of test done nor have I heard of it. In my experience (had 2 with my last pg) you go to the lab and they give you a drink that you have 5min to drink. You give them back the empty glass, they tell you to go to the back of lab at X time (you wait in or near the lab but have to stay in the hospital for 1 hour) and tell them you have a timed test, they draw your blood, and go home.
I'd be really irritated if I had to go to the lab, leave the lab, and return after 2hr. I'd rather just sit on my ass and read a book for an hour and be done with it, versus the driving back and forth.
I did a 2 hour GTT once (not while PG), but I had to do a blood draw, drink the sweet crap and then come back 2 hours later for another blood draw.
The traditional 1 hour for pregnancy kind of confuses me. Since they only draw blood once, how do they really know how you are reacting to the sweet stuff? They don't know what your levels were before... But whatever
