2nd Trimester

Severe reduction in movement?

I am almost 23 weeks and until 4 days ago baby was kicking harder and harder.  It seems like in the last 4 days movement is seriously decreased, but not GONE completely.  I know I"m probably overreacting, but can't stop worrying.   Anybody else have this happen prior to 24 weeks?  Is he just tired?  TIA.

Re: Severe reduction in movement?

  • I think the baby just moves into a different position and we can't feel it as strongly.

My son has kicked every day from about 18 weeks on, but some days it feels faint and some days it's strong enough that I wonder if we can get bruises on the inside!

  • I've had that happen too.  As long as I still do feel LO, I don't worry too much.

  • Just as long as you ARE still feeling your baby's movement, things should be fine.
  • Yes, it happened to me last week with hardly no movement but yesterday he/she was moving like crazy.  I think it's normal not to feel the baby everyday.  Sometimes we get so caught up in our everyday life and we don't pay 100% attention to the movement but the LO is still ok.  I wouldn't worry.
  • First of all, if you are concerned call your doctor - at least for peace of mind. After 24 weeks my midwife said I should feel movement every day. I asked why some days I felt movement more often than others and she said it has to do with fetal positioning. Your LO may haved moved into a different position.
