NBR: Cellphones in Public Restrooms

At work we share restrooms between 3 companies, so kind of public restrooms. Anyways, there are little tags in each stall asking people not to use their cell phones while in the restroom. I don't get it - do people have trouble using the restroom if someone else is on their phone?? Any ideas? Would it bother you if someone else was on their phone?

  • I think it's a little bit weird to hear someone else's conversation while I'm trying to do my business but honestly, I don't really care.  I am kind of pee-shy, so I appreciate that if it's just me and that one other person, at least we aren't sitting next to each other and just waiting silently for the other person to finish up!  I hate that!  If they're talking then I know they aren't focusing on anyone else in the bathroom...lol!

This is kinda gross but I will often talk on the phone while going to the bathroom (just my mom and my sister though!)  Kills two birds with one stone while DS is napping, you know?

  • That's kind of funny.  I think it's hysterical that people like to talk while they do their bathroom business, but it wouldn't stop me from peeing.  That's kind of like putting a sign in all the stalls that asks people to refrain from using them if there is one other stall already occupied.

Unless the person next to you is pee-shy, then please carry on with your conversation so I can pee in peace and not worry about you focusing on my peeing, tyvm! ;)

LOL! A sign like that would be hilarious! (and I do try to go a stall away from someone else if possible although I can care less). But I just realized that someone may have requested the sign because they don't want the person on the phone to hear them pee!! I think it's funny Smile Hope no one is offended.

  • That's what I think is funny - so they're okay with the person next to them, but not the person who might be on the other end of the phone... Maybe it's the unknown factor.  I mean, what if it's the President?

  • The idea that the person on the other end of the phone can hear me peeing without actually being in the bathroom with me skeeves me out. It already sucks to have the people in the bathroom hearing me and I most certainly don't want their best friend Sally in Montana to hear me when she;s not even there.

I was in a public restroom the other day and the lady in the other stall was conducting business on her cell. I thought to myself 'Ooh, I'm gonna out her when I flush my toilet', but she got done before me - and yes, she flushed. I wonder what the person on the other end thought.
  • Maybe the?janitors?are tired of fishing phones out of the toilets? ?::shrug::
