Bleeding Gums

I've gone from sensitive gums to full out bleeding-while-brushing gums. Does anyone know if certain sensitive toothpastes help?

Re: Bleeding Gums

  • No, but you should use some kind of Listerine to prevent infection with the super sensitive gums. That'll strengthen them up.

Thanks! WTEWYE suggested that, too. I just forgot to pick some up at the g-store earlier. Darn it!

  • Also floss every day even if it hurts.  Mine have been crappy lately too, I'm with you.

  • Same here! This morning I was brushing my teeth and thought to myself "how clean can my teeth be possibly when I'm basically brushing my teeth with blood?" I use Listerine every night before bed, but was never a regular flosser because I've always had bad sensitivity- so I'm not flossing daily. I use Sensodine Pro-namel daily for my sensitive teeth, but it certainly does nothing for my bleeding gums!

  • I had a dentist appointment last week for a cleaning and I was bleeding non stop. I told the dentist this is a regular thing when I brush lately. He actually told me not to use listerine right now, he said it tends to dry gums out and can make bleeding worse. He told me to floss regularly (which I do all the time anyway) but to immediately brush with salt water afterwards and to do it twice a day. Since then my bleeding has decreased by a good 50%.
