2nd Trimester

Too touchy MIL

I know everybody is different, but this difference is too much sometimes. My mom doesnt have much to do with my bump, she is super excited about the baby, but has been pretty hands-free. She will say bye to the baby when I leave but from a normal distance away. Now, MIL is totally different. She is always rubbing and grabbing on me. She yells into my stomach close range, like cheek almost on my navel. Today she sang like a 5 verse version of Itsy Bitsy Spider into my belly, in public. I had no idea what to do to stop it. So I just stood there, stunned, shooting death glares at my husband. People are crazy.

  • Hahaha...guess she's really excited!! Maybe talk to her and tell her that you aren't really comfortable with the PDA? Maybe let her know that light touching is okay when she asks?

  • Aww... that's HILARIOUS!!

I see the annoyance, but think about it this way- she is SO EXCITED!!

Next time, 1/2 into the 1st verse, tell her you have to pee. And excuse yourself promptly.  If she doesn't start figuring out that she's invading your space, then it's time for a talk.

  • 5 verses huh? Can she write them down for me? Tell her to, and she won't have her hands on her stomach...I can't remember all this!!
  • At least your MIL doesn't tell you that she is having telepathic conversations with your unborn child and they already have a "strong and deep" connection to each other. And, she hasn't called other members of your family to tell them the same thing. I would rather have Itsy Bitsy any day! hehehe

Ooh good idea. The pee excuse will so work, since I pee pretty much every 10 minutes anyway! good thinking
  • Oh wow. Just do the same thing to her the next time you see her. lol

At least you know she loves that baby in there.?

  • LOL...omg i cant believe she did that, and in public!
