table foods- red sauce

Do you let your DC have Italian foods with the red sauce still there (ie: not rinse off meatballs, etc?).  DD is strictly on people foods... took herself off purees and absolutely refuses anything she can't feed herself. This is a blessing and a curse. Tonight my ILs are making lasagna... not sure if she will be ok with the red sauce? She has raviolis, etc. all the time, but plain.

Thanks!

Re: table foods- red sauce

  • i let dd eat any of the food we eat. (even at 9 months old) so the red sauce would def be on the list.
  • Elyse LOVES red sauce.   I can get her to eat anything that has tomato sauce on it.   Hasen't bothered her yet...

DS kindof sucked the sauce out of pizza DH and I were having one night.

It was no biggie as far as his eating it (he liked it), but that was NOT a good night for DS. He was up a lot fussing and stuff.  We aren't sure if it was his teeth or his chronic congestion or if he had a tummyache from the pizza sauce, but we haven't risked it again.

  • Yep! She loves it! Some kids are sensitive to tomatoes, but yours will probably be fine. Just watch for a rash and all that.
  • I wouldn't personally b/c myself, my sister, and my dad get canker sores from acidic foods. Also, my cousin who is 4 has a reaction to tomatoes. She gets red splotchy patches on her face.
  • My DD won't eat pasta without sauce on it now that she's had it with sauce!
