Rash with CDs only?

We've been lucky in that DD has not ever once had a diaper rash since birth-- not even any redness. Last night she was in a CD-- the BG organic 3.0-- and woke up with a ton of redness just inside the creases of her thighs. It was very warm here last night but we had the A/C on all night long. What can I do to prevent this from happening with CDs? Could it be too hot to CD in summertime? Is that possible?

Re: Rash with CDs only?

  • I didn't have much luck with the BG organics.  They seemed to irritate DD's bum for some reason.

I would try maybe laying a liner in to see if keeping the wetness away helps.  You could just cup up pieces of fleece or suedecloth and give it a try.

Where about are you in Ohio btw?  I'm south east.

  • Loading the player...
  • alot of women use wool to help with breathability.  that way dc gets continuous air on his/her bootie ;)

  • Plenty of people CD in the summer, in all sorts of climates.  I would try what PP said, putting a liner in.  I personally wouldn't keep an organic BG on for more than a few hours-- they keep the moisture right against the skin.  I use BG pockets for nighttime.
  • Yeah, I'm in the middle of the Jillian's Drawers trial and I haven't found a night diaper I like as much as the plain BG 3.0 pockets...I am actually very unimpressed with the 3.0 organics (they take FOREVER to dry).

I have an order of liners coming in the mail soon so I think I'll try that at night.

    I am in Southwest Ohio-- Dayton/Cincinnati :)
