2nd Trimester

A couple of questions for those that have had 20 wk u/s

My big u/s is next weds.  I was wondering what everyone got to take with them as far as photos.  Hard copy of pictures or a CD?  Did you have to bring a CD with you?  How many pictures?  Was is all 2D or was there some 3D/4D?  I completely forgot to ask my dr. about it last month.....

Thanks!

  • At my 20 week u/s we were given approximately 15 printouts.  A digital copy wasn't offered, but I'm guessing if I requested it they would have provided it.  Most of the images were 2D, they took a couple of 3D as well.  G/L with your u/s!

  • Mine was just 2D.  She gave me some pictures and I think if I had brought a CD I could've gotten a digital copy but I forgot to bring one.

You should call in advance since every place is different.  They should be able to tell you what to expect and what you should bring if needed.

  • Ours was just in 2d.  We got about 10 pictures to take home and my hubs video taped the u/s like he did the others.

  • Its very different for each situation. For us it was 2D and we only got 3 printed pics. We wanted more so we went a few weeks later to a different place and paid for a 3D ultrasound and got several pics along with a CD and video. Good luck!

  • I did not get any pictures. She was moving a lot and they did not get any good profile pictures so they didn't give me any pictures at all. I told them I would take shots of her legs even, but they said no :(

And 3D/4D is a seperate procedure than a regular u/s (at least at the office I go to), so it depends. I know 3D/4D places tend to have packages with pictures, CDs, etc.

How much was your 3D ultrasound?

  • At ours we got 2 pictures and then they taped it on a vhs tape we brought in.?

Call your doc and ask what they do. ?

  • We got a plain old 2D at the hospital, and they gave us 5 print outs. No cameras were allowed, and they didn't offer us the CD option. I just scanned the prints when I got home and saved them digitally.
  • My doc has as 2D u/s and she does it herself.  We got to take home a few pics.  However I think it was much better than going to a lab because she talked to us about everything she say and we found out right there that everything was good.  It sounds like everywhere is different.
  • We got four hard copies of pictures and they copied the entire ultrasound onto a DVD for us, so we can watch it whenever we want (they did this for both ultrasounds and will for the third too). We had to supply the DVD. The pictures of the second ultrasound were all 2D
  • Mine was 2D and we got about 8-10pcs (hard copy) to take with us, no CD.  At about 30wks though DH and I are paying for 3D u/s and I've been told, from another friend who goes to the same doctor as me, that we will get hard copy pics to take with us as well as a CD.  Based on everyones responses, sounds like every doctor is different...If your curious, call your doctor's office and find out :-)
  • We were given the option of printed out pics or a CD. We chose a CD because the ultrasound tech said that they can fade over time and if we try to scan them they can get ruined. She suggested the CD because then we can just email them out from the CD or we can print out as many as we want. The printed out ones also don't scan that good. Ours were all in 2D. Most drs around here only do 2D and if you want 3D you have to schedule an appt at the local office that does that. HTH! Good luck on Wednesday!
