The problem with using compost...

I have nine squash plants growing in my flower garden.  One is starting to flower, the rest are just continuing their fuzyleafed creep.  They're lovely, but very out of place.

I once grew asian squash amongst my tomatoes that way.  I had so many of the darn things, that about every neighbor had free Asian squash for their fall outdoor displays!

  • Yeah, the killer is that I potted nine seedlings before spreading the compost.  I'm looking at a lot of butternut squash soup, and I need to make a lot of friends, if each one winds up having a plant.
