2nd Trimester

Old Navy - Maternity

So...I went to one of two Old Navy stores close to me today that have maternity clothes only to find that the section was VERY picked over.  They had no dress clothes (I mean none....not even the size 0s and 2s) nor did they have any larger sized jeans.

Of course this lead me to ask why and if they would get another shipment in soon.  I was told no and that all Old Navy stores would be pretty picked over b/c they are not going to be carying maternity in the stores anymore.  You will still be able to purchase online.

Has anyone else heard this??  I was very dissapointed as I have been told they are a very good cost friendly place to get clothes for a growing baby bump.  :-(

  • I haven't heard this, but even now most things are online. Have you checked? It's a much bigger selection than the stores. But- if you buy it online you have to return it via mail and many of their items fit differently than expected and fit differently than similar items. For example, I bought a jean skirt and a pair of capris that were both full panel. The skirt fit perfectly, but the capris didn't fit at all. Very weird. But, the pieces that I do have I really like. It's just annoying that you have to ship them back to return them.

  • I?ve heard that!

I was also very disappointed in the 2 shirts I ordered online.

Both were made of super thin material.  I know it?s summer and all but it?s indecent even w/ a bra.

  • Our Old Navy stores haven't had any maternity clothes for my entire pregnancy - I'm a little jealous that you even had a picked over selection!  The shipping isn't too bad though, I think (I have a Banana Luxe card so I don't pay shipping) - I think it's a $6 flat rate.  Which is almost worth the convenience of having it delivered to your door!
  • Yeah, my Old navy got rid of their maternity section...you can shop online; but sizes are so varied it is hard.  I don't mind anymore because the items I do have from there are crap.

  • I was told that they were doing their Mat. section over. I am not sure if it is a regional thing, or what.

  • I think most of their stuff is "online only." Just be aware their return policy sucks. You have to return by mail, and it must be within 45 days. They won't even take it for store credit after that.

I went to the Old Navy near our home and they didn't have much of a selection.  They had tons of maternity jeans in my size so I picked up two pair.  Unfortunately, they don't fit very well (one is too big and the other too small).  Very odd!

I found some really nice, inexpensive maternity clothes at Kohls.  You might want to give that a try!

  • I don't know of any stores that I have ever been to that actually ever had the maternity section - so I'm not really surprised that the section in your store was picked over - or that they'll stop carrying them in store.

It's really sad though... more stores should carry at least a limited amount of maternity clothes... it's hard enough to find stuff to begin with.  We only have like 3 places in town that I can actually shop for maternity clothes.
