We registered at PBK. I fell in love with the design, and even though Baby Bargains had less than stellar things to say about their bedding, I went with it. We checked it out in person last weekend at the store and I was actually impressed with the quality. We plan to hang the quilt as decoration until the baby is in a toddler bed, then it will be the bedding.
I found a lot of cute styles on amazon.com and also Land of Nod. I also found a company called Hoohobbers that makes custom bedding in adorable patterns (they send swatches for free) but they are a bit pricey. You could also try local baby boutiques that have books, catalogues and swatches and then you order it through them.
We aren't finding out gender, so I am going to order when we get home from the hospital since baby will be in a bassinet for at least a couple of weeks.
I actually found my set (Tiddliwinks Safari) at Mashall's when I was like 2 or 3 mos prego. It was only $50 for a 4 piece set so I snatched it up. I was lucky to get the rest of the pieces on sale at Target, so I think the entire nursery (valance, hamper, changing cover, rug etc etc) cost me like a hundred bucks, maybe 150.
But now I've decided to return a bunch of the pieces because it was too 'matchy' when I started putting the nursery together. Also, some of the items got really bad reviews. Now I am doing better quality fabrics in solids and patterns (for sheets, bedskirt, etc).and just keeping a few tiddliwinks pieces for accent.
My advice? Don't make a purchase like that before you do some planning and research on brand quality.
Re: Where did you buy your bedding?
Overstock.com
Fabulous idea! I love Overstock and hadn't even thought of looking there!

We ordered it from ebay after finding what we liked for a bit cheaper.
We got ours from cocola.com. They have really nice bedding:)

I looked around first as I wanted to see what I bought in person, but it was extremely cheaper online and no added tax
