DS is really having a rough time with teething

His keeps itching his nose non-stop because it's slightly runny.  And he is chewing on everything he can stick in his mouth.  He just pulled his bath towel off the changing table to chew on that and wipe his nose on it.  And he keeps trying to bite down on my fingers.  I've given him some drops and he got motrin and tylenol last night to go to bed, I don't want to keep drugging him up though because I feel bad.  And on Wednesday I felt his gums getting slightly harder.  Late last night I felt three of the molars definitely under his gums and pushing.  I feel so bad for him, but I also hope that they come in really fast so that my breasts can get a break from the clamping when he nurses.  I'm off to go find his amberino teething ring.

  • Soak a washcloth in BM, freeze it, and then give it to gim to chew on.

  • I had never thought of this!  I'll have to wait a little bit before I can pump, he just nursed me dry.
  • I really really feel you.

DS has the dubious title of "the worst teether his daycare teachers have ever seen".

Yay for us.  I fell really bad about it, but when it gets bad I do give him more Ibu. than I would like.  In the midst of teething I typically give him a dose at 10pm when we go to bed, which gets him through til about 4am.    Then I give him more at around 3pm if he is having a really rough afternoon.

  • Maybe try distracting/calming him with a bath?

Have you ever tried chamomile drops??

  • We use drops that have chamomile in them.  And bath time is neither relaxing nor calming for him.  It's gotten so bad to give him a bath he only gets one about every two weeks or when he's really dirty from playing outside which hasn't happened lately because it's been raining non-stop almost.  Call me terrible but to hear him scream at bath time is awful and I can't seem to get him to relax and enjoy it anymore.
  • hmm ok in that case take him to the park
