Most mei tai makers recommend against it - for one, it won't be comfortable for you, especially as baby gets heavier for her to be that far from your center of gravity. Secondly, it's very difficult to get a proper position for baby (supported by bum not the crotch) in an outward hold.
However, mei tais can be used for back carries and high back carries which allow baby to look out but still be able to rest her head when she sleeps. And it's way more comfortable to wear a heavier baby on your back!
Usually the mei tai's aren't narrow enough on the bottom to do front facing. You can try froggy legging the baby...but honestly, front facing is killer on the back since the baby is pulling away from you.
