Just an FYI, it can show up anytime the first year. So weird! It probably started a few months ago, but still way late. I felt great when DS was a difficult, refluxy newborn. And then 2-3 months ago I started getting really anxious and overly emotional, like bursting in to tears when Asher wouldnt take a nap or if were late somewhere. Things that are frustrating but I shouldnt be crying over. Ive been feeling realy down too. I also gained about 10lbs for seemingly no reason (no change in diet or excercise). Then this week I had this sudden insomnia, only slept 5 hours total in 4 night. Finally went to the doctor today and he said it sounds like PPD and put me on Lexapro and gave me some Ambien. And he's testing my thyroid, he said it can be over-active right after birth and then drop a few months later, often down to normal but sometimes it can drop too low causing depression and weight gain. Im nervous taking an antidepressant, I've never taken one before.
Re: huh, apparently I have PPD 11 months later
WOW! I'm glad you went to the dr. Can I ask what type of doctor? OB--general doctor?? I feel the same way--but I too am nervous for the meds. I've heard great things about Lexapro. The only thing I can take b/c of breastfeeding is Zoloft and I had that years ago and had weird dreams. but overall, the drugs are good (if you really need them).

Notes:
i'm sorry
i'm glad you talked to your dr about it though.
i bet you will feel a tonnn better after a few nights of good sleep. i was really nervous to take an anti-depressant too, but it has REALLY helped.
good luck!!
I just went to my general doctor. My OB is really hard to get in with.
I'm so glad that you got to see your Dr. You will feel better once you start taking the anti-depressants. You should notice a change in about a week and a significant improvement in about a month. I was really nervous about taking Prozac but I realized sometimes you just need a little help. There's nothing wrong with that.
Now go get some sleep!
