We are currently in the process of buying our first home, and we are set to close next week, but our lease ends on the 30th but our mortgage broker sucks! she keeps telling me that she is preforming some kind of miracle by even trying to get us in the house by then. So she calls me this morning after our file went to the underwriter saying she was missing a very important piece of info on us. and that I needed to get it to her asap. So I call my hubby and ask him for it, and he gets upset cause the FILE ALREADY WENT TO UNDERWRITING! and this should have been dealt with before. so I get it and email it to her and she manages to spell my name wrong, despite my email address is first.lastname!   but at the end of her email she tells me that I would make a great mortgage broker. 

I already can't stand this women, she just bugs me!

We are in the same situation.  Out REA is awesome but our mortgage person sucked.  She screwed up so much and neglected to tell us things, then sent our file with our ss #'s, pay stub's, etc to the WRONG LAWYER.  She called us probably 15 different times asking for information that she already had or other information.  Our lease end date came and went, fortunately our landlord was very easy going and let us pay month by month.  We dealt with them for over 3 months and finally decided to switch mortgage companies.  We are much happier now and moving in tomorrow!

It is amazing to me how many completely incompetent people are in that business. I hear you. I had contractors scheduled to start work on my house when I got a home eq loan and it was a nightmare that went on for 4 weeks. Needless to say the contractors couldn't start. They were missing this, they took a few days off, they needed that. It was incredible.

My parents just bought a rental and they went through the same thing. Then my dad moved the stove to fix something behind it and the broker said he couldn't get the loan until he moved the stove back. He asked if he had to hook up the stove and she said no - it just needed to be in the right place or he couldn't get the loan. Who makes these decisions? Jeez.

yeah we love our REA she is the greatest! but our mortgage broker is soooo stupid! I hope she fails after this!

I used to work for a mortgage broker.  They can be incompetent but having direct expeirence with underwriters, sometimes they DO ask for things that you might not NORMALLY need, so try to be patient as it's probably not the mortgage broker's fault.  Underwriting can take days and sometimes (depending ont he bank or institution) they require more information than the mortgage broker MIGHT need.  It's frustrating as this was often MY job when I had to call people and ask for more stuff...it is annoying but congrats on the house!
