2nd Trimester

Dh didn't like name & kept quiet!

When we first found out we were pg we, or should I say I made alist of names we liked for a boy and girl.  He agreed on all of them..but didn't offer any of his own.  Then we didn't really discuss names for about 6 weeks or more.  We then found out it was a girl at 16w4d and our top two girl names were Peyton & Addison.  Peyton being my favorite..so from then until yesterday we were trying to come up with a middle name for Peyton.

Yesterday he asked me to "think about Maddison, and we could call her Maddy."  I liked Maddison, or Madyson for a middle name, but not first and DO NOT like Maddy (maybe because of J&K+8? LoL)

I asked him why if he didn't like Peyton he didn't tell me until now, when I tried to get him to participate SOOoooo much!

I obviously want him to be happy with our name but he has said that in the end he will leave it up to me..which makes me feel bad.

It kinda sucks because I have been calling her Peyton for a few weeks now and trying to get a good middle name and now it's like she isn't Peyton anymore!

I know we have PLENTY of time..but I wish he would have spoke up earlier.

  • My DH also has not come up with any names, until last night. He likes the name Elza, and the name Stevely.

    Stevely? Really?

  • My husband has been dragging his feet with names, too.  I loved the name Elizabeth Jane.... and for the longest time he never said anything about it, positive or negative.  Finally he told me he didn't like it cause he knew an Elizabeth once and he didn't like her.  Just have to find somewhere to compromise.

**note** we still do not have a name picked!  I'm working on her Christmas stocking, and told him that I need the name so I can stitch it on the stocking.. he said "okay, so in 3 years she will have a name!"  LOL... it took me 3 years to finish his stocking... Huh?  But I promise that she will have a nice stocking hanging up this year!

  • My DH and I tried for so long to get pregnant, and had names picked out..Luckly he still really liked our boys name..So Noah it is Wink and I am in love with calling him that Big Smile

  • Tastes may have changed.  We have changed our baby's name many times.
  • Ugh....my husband has been difficult in this area.  I only had two girl names that I liked.  Kaitlyn and Olivia.  He vetoed Olivia within about 2.5 seconds, because he thought it reminded him too much of Olivia Newton John...Really?  Seriously??  Who cares about ONJ.

He's been luke-warm with Kaitlyn and won't commit to it, yet will not throw in ANY suggestions of his own.  Then here's the real catcher...he'll refer to the baby as Kaitlyn around our family and I'll ask him, "So are we going with Kaitlyn?" and he'll just shrug his shoulders and go, "I dunno" and then he'll change the subject.

    Argh...

  • When we first started talking names, we both liked Carter Lance for a boy forever, but a girls name was not so easy for us.  I liked Sadie, he didn't.  He likes Zoe, I don't.  My next choice was Gillian...at first he didnt' say much, then he said it didn't matter, I could choose and he'd choose the next ones name.  I was dead set against that idea because he likes some horrible names (read something you would name your dog, not a person) or wants to use only his family names.  I could never name my daughter after his mom or sister, it would be too hurtful to my family and I don't like their names.  Anyway, the day before the big u/s he said he had thought about it and he now likes Gillian Grayce.  We decided on middle names with a family significance.  Lance is his mom's maiden name, Gray is my maiden name.  It didn't really matter in the end because it's a boy and he'll be Carter which we both love.

haha My name is Elizabeth Jane. Go by Ellie.

  • DH and I had a perfect girls name that we both loved, but nothing for boy, so obviously we are having a boy! He is iffy on most of my suggestions and I asked him to think about my top choice for awhile. In my mind, I am already calling our LO by the name I want, but it may change depending on how DH feels after giving it some thought. It is definitely a hard process!!
