NBR: Spraypainting wood furniture

Hey everyone!  I found some great end tables for the baby's room (round pedestal) at Marshall's yesterday for $50 each.  They are a horrible color green though and I was wondering if anyone has had luck painting/spraypainting wood furniture and what exactly you did (primer, sanding etc..)

Are there any cool paints with neat effects that you can use??  I don't think we would want to stain - probably paint a fun color.

Any tips would be much appreciated.  They are a great deal - just an ugly ugly color right now!! Worth it to me to paint them!

Thank you!!

Re: NBR: Spraypainting wood furniture

  • I personally would sand, primer and brush paint, not spray paint.

I'm not too creative when it comes to adding any neat effects, though.

  • With wood you should always use an oil based paint-with that being said, you can't be the one to actually paint them, someone else will have to do it.  Oil based paints won't chip and will stay longer :)

Actually...there IS spraypaint particularly for wood.  While sanding, primering, etc... is "traditional" what you would traditionally do, mother and I painted a huge table a year or two ago with it.  Removing the spray paint after is just the same as you would other paints if you change your mind later.  Go for it!  Just buy the one for wood.

  • Google!  I was looking up how to paint furniture once and TONS of info came up.  You'll be able to find a DIY site explaining exactly what you should and shouldn't do!
