2nd Trimester

DH's sticker shock

While walking through the baby section at Target's yesterday, DH gasped when he saw the price of diapers. He simply couldn't believe that they were that much. He followed this up with "wow! and don't you have to use, like, 3 a day?!?". My poor baby....

Indifferent

  • Wow - he might faint when he realizes you guys will go through much more then that!  LOL

  • My DH said today "I really wish we weren't spending this much money for the baby when it isn't even here yet."

Oh dear. It's going to be a long road ahead.

  • I think you are supposed to go through 10 - 12 diapers a day ... every 2 hours or so.  I'm considering getting cloth/reusable.  There are some really cute ones with plastic on the outside and elastic around the legs now.  Yeah, they are ~$20 a piece, but think about how much money you'll save over the long term, and how many fewer disposable diapers you will put in a landfill.
  • I quickly corrected his daily estimate. I have considered the re-usables but I am still undecided on them...

  • That's exactly why I'm doing cloth - that and being better for baby's behind.

  • You can't turn diapers inside out like men do with their boxers. My DH doesn't do this, but I know a lot of guys in college that did!
