If you sneak veggies in - ideas/recipes please

If you sneak veggies into DC's food, would you share some of your successful ones?  And please don't bother responding if you feel sneaking veggies is wrong / not the right approach.  I've tried regular veggies and he's not having it.  I need a new approach.

  • I've tried sneaking them in and she pulls them out and throws them on my plate.

One thing that did work for us was having her count them as she put them in her mouth. I'd say "Can you count 5 green beans while putting them in your mouth?" And she would.

Also, we started taking them off her plate and hiding them in a napkin. She would pull them out and throw them in her mouth. I know we should not make a game of her food, but we did and it worked.

We also started letting her dip them in a tab bit of dressing.

    GL!

  • Meat loaf, quesadilla (I put baby food in there. Lol), lasagna, hmm. I know their are more. I have read you can put some in puree them and put them in pancake batter but isn't that obvious?

  • What about something to dip them in?  Ranch?  Hummus?
  • Oh. And spaghetti sauce sometimes. Grate some carrots.

  • I put sweet potatoes in french toast batter, apple sauce and mashed bananas in pancakes and make zucchini bread/muffins for my DS.  I also buy him freeze dried snap peas.  That's about the extent of his veggie eating.
  • DD will eat them in any soup. I also buy her the Juicy Juice Healthy Harvest juice. She'll also eat broccoli in cheese sauce.

  • I puree kale and put it in muffins.

I have been known to make lots of different veggie breads, actually.  They don't exactly taste good, but they don't exactly taste bad either.  Sort of just... odd.

    But whatever, DS eats them.

You can add canned pumpkin (100% pumpkin, not the pie filling) to just about any bread based recipe (bread muffins pancakes, etc).  Same with grated carrots.

  • I know you said veggies. I'm starting with fruits. I mix mashed or pureed into Jack's pancakes and waffles. I never make them plain which drives my non fruit or veggie eating husband crazy.

oatmeal always has either fresh or frozen berries, applesauce (if I don't have fruit in the house), or mashed banana with cinnamon in it

cereal always has fresh fruit diced into it (once in a while dried cranberries or blueberries (no sugar added) if I find myself without fruit in the house)

I make zucchini muffins, carrot muffins, and such like that. I always do half oil or butter and half apple sauce to cut down.

pureed veggies on pizza crust before putting the pizza sauce on top of it

quesadillas with minced spinach and diced softened carrot shreds

turkey meatloaf with peppers, shredded zucchini and carrots

ground chicken burgers with shredded zucchini and carrots (the zucchini makes the burgers really moist)

I'll throw a puree of red pepper, spinach, butternut squash in with my spaghetti sauce

butternut squash puree (a little) in mac & cheese
