2nd Trimester

labor?

I want to labor in a birthing tub at our hospital but I want to actually give birth on the table but I have read that if you labor in the birthing tub it reduces pain and tearing.

Has anyone done this ? or is planning on doing it?

Re: labor?

  • It is the plan if all goes well!  There is alot of research out there- google Water birth and you should find a ton of info!  My actual plan involves giving birth in the water but there are factors that can change that while you are in labor.

  • yeah its one of those if all goes well kind of things. I think it just sounds so relaxing to give birth and do the painful part in the water, plus it will be a good way to keep me from asking for an epidural which I DO NOT WANT! I want as natural as possible, but will change if baby is distressed

I am with you on natural!  We actually live around the block from the hospital so we are going to try for a home birth!  I still see an OB and my two midwives so I feel like if its going to happen then at least I have the support:)  Awesome that you want to go natural!  I have BAD allergies to many narcotics so I would need a C-Section rather than an epi at the hospital we live by- I figure at home (if all goes well!) then I have no choice but to avoid drugs;)

  • I just don't believe in baby coming out all drugged up, no offense to those who want the drugs. But I just want to feel everything, and I don't wanna miss anything not one painful push. I figure they should just give my hubby the drugs for the hand I plan on breaking. Lol

  • Good for you!!! I think you should just check with your dr or hospital to make sure that is a possibility. I thought about doing it this time but because I hemorrhaged with the labor of my first, they are very careful about my delivery this time. I may not go to term if the baby is getting too big. Let us know how it was and GL

  • I'm all for the natural too and am terrified of getting an epidural or c-section.  If I can, I would love to do a water birth but I have a few minor health issues that I'm not sure if it will work out or not.
