Which prefolds should I order from GMD? I know I'd need to wash the unbleached MANY times in super hot water for them to be degummed... is there some other reason I should choose one over the other?

And to verify something I've asked before- I'm getting ready to order my PFs... 12 newborn and 24 smalls is a good starter stash? It doesn't seem like many newborn...

Are you expecting a large LO? Most people will recommend 24-36 newborn diapers. The yellow edge we started using around 10 pounds if I remember right and we had to fold the length over quite a lot for them to fit in the rise. So I guess I am trying to say if you have bigger babies then 12 orange and 24 yellow might work but if your LO is tiny than you need more orange if you are only going with prefolds and dont want to do laundry every day.

Right now he's expected to be TINY. He was only in the 7th percentile at my last u/s and he was small at the first u/s too. DH was really small when he was born and I wasn't huge... the midwife expects him to grow (of course), but said she'd be surprised if he makes it all the way up to "average" before birth.... so maybe I'll go ahead and get two dozen newborn. I can order another dozen if I have to...

I know I'm in the minority here, but I much prefer my bleached GMDs to my unbleached. The bleached are "heftier," IMO. Additionally, my unbleached got kind of "pilly" really fast. The pilliness makes them feel less soft than my bleached.

Same here... the unbleached feel softer at first, but the bleached hold their softness better in the longrun And the new indian cotton is SOoooooo much softer than the chinese!
