2nd Trimester

We Played in the Rain

Last night at 11:00 pm DH and I ran outside in our PJ's to play in a downpour.

For the past few months we've been maxed out. It seems like every corner we've come around has been filled with more less-than-ideal options and last night we were broken. DH got bad news on top of bad news on top of his mom calling and telling him that she was very sick and needed our prayers, but that she didn't want to say more until DH was done with finals (he's going to school full time and working full time).

We were sitting on our bed holding each other and I asked DH what I could do for him, what he needed. He looked at me and asked if I could go mix him a drink...and I looked back and said, you want to go run around in the rain?

And that's exactly what we did. We ran out of our apartment complex and were immediately soaked. We splashed in every puddle and ran around (yes, even in my pregnant state) for an entire hour. Then climbed up on the roofs of our apartment's garages and waited for the rain to stop.

It was the best I've felt in a very long time and it was the best feeling to see such a big smile on DH's face and to hear his laughter. That was certainly a memory I will never forget.

So when things get hard, when you're maxed out, when your burdens are too heavy, when gaps are too wide, remember to go and play in the rain.

  • That made me tear up too. ?It's funny because I felt silly for feeling that way until I read the responses and saw I wasn't alone. ?What a sweet memory and sweet message.
