So obviously I know it's different with every doctor's office and whether or not the baby is cooperating, but on average, how long would you say the big u/s lasts? ?I get mine done on Wednesday, just wondering how long I can expect. TIA
My 20 week ultrasound took a lot longer than the first one, maybe an hour. It was because they were measuring all kinds of thing, organs, bones, etc. to make sure all is well.
I think mine was 10 minutes maybe? She was just too cooperative and they got everything they needed really fast. Silly girl.
What sucked with this ultrasound for me was that she WAS so cooperative and the tech didn't let us see her moving very much, it was just bam, bam, bam getting the measurements and such.

haven't had mine yet but when i scheduled they told me that my appointment would last an hour due to the tests and such that they also run at that time.
Mine took about 45-50 minutes. She kept on flipping all over the place. They had me lie on my side and move the bed i was on back so my feet were more up in the air to get the gender shot at the end. She just didn't want to open her legs
Mine was almost an hour, but that included me allowing the student observing to take a whirl at it for about 10 minutes. They also took and printed out about 10 pics for me and they burned a DVD of part of my u/s. My uterus actually was sore the next day from the u/s. But I LOVED seeing my LO for that long. I didn't mind a bit.
Mine was this morning and it was about 30 minutes. The baby was very cooperative for all the measurements, but would not open those legs. She about 10 extra minutes trying to get the baby to move, but was unsuccessful!

Mine was about 30-40 mins. Baby was completely uncooperative. It was a little bit annoying that the tech kept stating over and over again just how "difficult" baby was being and then kept trying to play it off by saying "beautiful baby". We did get to see it was a boy but she seemed to be getting frustrated that she couldn't get the "money shot" because the baby kept pressing his face into the placenta so she couldn't get us a 3D face shot.
We did end up getting some bad news from the doctor after the sonogram so I have a follow up sonogram in July. I'm hoping that the bad news is just a result of the tech taking a bad picture because the baby just wasn't helping .... at least that's what I'm hoping for.
But yeah, it was pretty awesome to see the baby. DH had never seen it before and it was really exciting for him. Enjoy it - however long you're there for.
